Public Use Areas

The Flint Hills Discovery Center is owned and operated by the City of Manhattan and contains free public access spaces on all three floors of the building. Everyone is welcome to come in and enjoy the Center’s lobby and second and third floor interior balconies. These spaces provide spectacular views to the south and west through the 65 foot tall cylinder glass curtain wall. Table and chairs are scattered throughout these spaces for your enjoyment and comfort.

The lobby also serves as a visitor information center about all that there is to do throughout the Flint Hills. And all public areas here have free Wi-Fi access!

Green Roof Terraces
The two green roof terraces of the building are part of the City of Manhattan’s park system. The third floor terrace - accessible from the lobby via the stairs or the elevator as well as open to the park via the ramp and stairs - includes comfortable outdoor seating.
