Rental Venues

The Flint Hills Discovery has a variety of venue options that showcase the beauty of the Flint Hills of Kansas.  Whether you're hosting a party for 10 or 500, we have several options for all types of events at three different locations: the Flint Hills Discovery Center, Union Pacific Depot, & Blue Earth Plaza.

FLINT HILLS DISCOVERY CENTER

This beautiful building is a tribute to the exquisite nature of the Flint Hills with native stone, wild flowers, and artwork.

Full Building:

Rental includes rooftop terrace, two private dressing rooms, all exhibit space, theater, children’s play area, entry atrium and balconies.
Hours: Rental is a seven hour time slot between 5:00 PM and midnight with earlier access to some areas
Capacity: 240 seated, 500 standing
Fee: $2,500 Saturday, $2,000 Sunday through Friday

Exhibit Space:

Rental includes all exhibit space, theater, children’s play area, entry atrium and 2nd floor balcony.
Hours:  Rental is any three hour time slot between 5:00 PM and midnight and may be extended at an hourly rate.                         Capacity: 200 seated, 500 standing
Fee:  $1,200 three hour rental, $200 per additional hours

Private Rooms

We have two private rooms, which include the Blue Earth Room and Flint Hills Room.  Both rooms are equipped with free Wi-Fi and AV accommodations.  These rooms are ideal for meetings, presentations, rehearsal dinners, graduation parties, and bridal or baby showers. The classroom may also be rented for educational rentals or birthday parties.  
Hours:  8:00 AM to midnight
Capacity: 48 seated, 55 standing
Fee: $50 per hour, $25 per hour after hours fee, $300 for full day

Rooftop Terrace:

Planted in prairie grasses and flowers with views of Manhattan, the terrace is ideal for an outdoor event such as a wedding ceremony, business meeting gathering, or dance floor under the stars.  The terrace is uncovered.
Hours: 4:00 PM to midnight
Capacity: 150 seated, 200 standing
Fee:  $225 per hour

UNION PACIFIC DEPOT

The historic Union Pacific Depot is a charming location for your next event. Built in 1903, it is included on the National Register of Historic Places.
Hours: 8:00 AM – midnight
Capacity: 62 seated, 70 standing
Fee: $45 per hour

The Union Pacific Depot also provides complimentary WIFI along with trash and recycling services.

BLUE EARTH PLAZA

Blue Earth Plaza is a public park featuring a covered patio, firepit and large green space.
Hours: 8:00 AM – 11:00 PM
Capacity: 100 seated on covered patio, 500+ on lawn
Fee: $60 - $90 per hour depending upon number of guests

The Blue Earth Plaza includes access to the park's music-playing capabilities.
